Cal sculpts primarily in a vein of beautiful red and cream-gold Grampians sandstone sourced from one of the last true dimension sandstones quarries still operating in the state of Victoria.




Grampians sandstone
The Grampians sandstone quarry itself has been operating for a little over 150 years, however the geology of the sandstone is approximately five hundred and fifty million years old. ‘Dimension stone’ is raw, rough sawn sandstone. The stone is unusually hard and fine.




Mount Angus sandstone
Mount Angus sandstone from the Gippslands, Victoria is from the Devonian – Carboniferous geological age spanning between about 419.2 million and 358.9 million years ago.
